If you’ve been following Shop Complex for a while, you may remember a small tease we dropped a few months back about something new we were working on.
It’s time to finally talk about it.
At our core, Shop Complex has always been fueled by nostalgia. Pokémon, retro games, old hardware, and the memories tied to them aren’t just products to us—they’re part of who we are. We grew up with this stuff. We still use it. We still care about keeping it alive.
Over the past year, we’ve been spending a lot more time hands-on with retro gaming hardware. Cleaning it. Testing it. Restoring it. Learning what works, what doesn’t, and what decades of use really do to these systems. Somewhere along the way, a simple question kept coming up:
Why not offer this as a service?
So we started toying with the idea.
What began as personal projects and behind-the-scenes tinkering has slowly turned into something we believe could be a meaningful addition to Shop Complex—especially for collectors, parents introducing their kids to retro games, and anyone who wants their hardware to feel loved again instead of forgotten in a drawer.
We’re not ready to share all the details just yet. This isn’t a rushed rollout, and it isn’t something we’re half-doing. We want to launch it the right way, with clear expectations, transparent pricing, and a level of care that matches the passion behind it.
As we’ve been experimenting, we’ve also been exploring what’s possible when classic hardware gets a second life. Some of those ideas are still early. Others are farther along. Either way, they deserve their own spotlight—and we’ll save that conversation for a later date.
Here’s what we can say for now:
- This new service is built around retro gaming
- It’s something we’re genuinely passionate about
- It’s been tested, refined, and taken seriously behind the scenes
- Full details will be shared in the new year
- The goal is to launch shortly after those details go live
If you love retro games as much as we do, keep an eye on the blog and our social channels. The next chapter of Shop Complex is about preservation, craftsmanship, and keeping the classics playable—while quietly reimagining what they can become.
More soon.
